Blogging is a commitment is it not ? Some people think of it as a way to connect to the world others run away to this world they call theirs yet others still blog secretly....
If one wanted to keep it secret one should've not blogged in the first place! Then again ,why not ??
Yes , we Libyan bloggers especially the women face tremendous pressures from family ,work and all who are close. Is Blogging such an awful thing ??I never in my mind thought it to be till I got into trouble with needless to say the closest people to me.
I have met many bloggers andlinked to them. Many were great people but little did I know about the weirdos I encountered. Being brought up in a so called good mannered way -thinking the best of everything and everyone I got slapped in the face literally speaking......
I am an open person and this seems to be my downfall,as many people have taken advantage of this. Do I get all mad and stressed and angry ??Well, I am of a norm species ,even though I am Libyan -I can take so much.
So 2 Panadols (paracetamol) and a cold glass of milk usually does it. Being a teacher , I always give away my secret antidote to anxiety of exams ie 2 panadols taken with what I call Ms. Luna's Cocktail( cold milk ,honey and a big banana) then sink into a nice warm bath. Ahhhhh what a relief, then I think about what was commented and it no longer bothers me anymore.
welcome back :o)
ReplyDeleteI like the cartoon lol
such a shame that what you mentioned about female Libyan bloggers is true with so many, in your case I feel we lost one of the best and nicest bloggers although you do blog occasionaly but nothing like before.
best of luck and hope to read more posts by you :o)
Salam Luna,
ReplyDeleteYou know I find this recent subject matter one that is very perplexing to me. For in so many ways I can see there's so many similiarities between "us" and "them" if those terms can be used lightly. I seem to always want to find a common ground to justify we are all human beings that feel the same feelings, and I still believe that to be true. However, when I come across topics like this and the one that Shahrazad posted I get stumped.
I'm still trying to unearth the real reason as to why it is perceived wrong or bad or inappropriate for females to blog.
I have yet to come across a blog that is inappropriate, offensive or disrespectful in anyway. Moreover, if I were to come across such a blog of such a nature I would just leave it and forget about it.
So what has drastically changed recently that has caused a mass exiting of female bloggers or at best female bloggers that require you to be an invited guest to their blog in the first place.
Those we've been instantly cut-off from whom I've grown fond of have just vanished in the night without a trace. Or if the ego was to get a little crazy, would think I've been shut out without any cause or reason. lol silly ego
Anyway, I'm really curious for individuals like yourself and Shahrazad who are willing to discuss such matter to continue sharing with those of us that just don't get it.
Take care.
Luna!
ReplyDeleteI feel that I'm coming late to this post. Nevertheless I agree with the post and the comments. Your postings are getting scarce and the libyan blogosphere in general seems exhausted. Or did they lose faith, interest in blogging? and why all these restricted blogs???
Take care! H.
PS: and I like the cartoon too!
Hi Al !
ReplyDeleteThanks dear brother..Its great to see you again.
I thank you for stopping by and hope to fulfill my commitment InshaAllah.
B
Salam to you too my dear!
Long time no see...
When one lives in a small community -blogging is still a very new issue which isn't accepted as its fun !
We are supposed to be serious people who don't share their daily routines with others let alone with complete strangers ....
Arabs have an issue of any kind of emancipation of women and having fun is out of the question. @Writing is a true joy in itself that only those who do and can write or read can perceive.
We have many ignorant people who's idea of blogging is something shameful yet they read other blogs which have no family relatives involved and discuss the matter openly with all their family !
Hypocrisy at its best .
Thanks for your comment.
Musiclover
Welcome back..
You posting a comment on my blog ??I must be doing fine :-)
"Trust me even with the men who have western mothers, or lived abroad because people think they are liberals but many times it is the opposite."
"People do not get it that we do not own others and not to expect them to follow their wishes and to meet their expectations."
I know - and boy do I!
Saying one is open minded or a liberal is not enough. Its all fine till the wife , sister or daughter concerned is never in the picture !
A bunch of hypocrites that one can live without Alhamdulillah..
ML I couldn't have said it any better any.
Thanks for passing by.
H carissima !
ReplyDeleteGood to see your back !

They will hopefully not be scarce anymore.. I had issues I had to deal with and I'm much better now Alhamdulilah.
For the restrictions of blogs -I only have understood from the Libyan female bloggers that they no longer want to share their experiences with readers they don't know -as some have encountered many weirdos !
